I woke up yesterday morning, rolled my hot pink compression socks off my legs, and I swear my calves felt a billion times better. I am convinced those socks work wonders. I hadn’t been wearing them since my box jump injury because I didn’t want to bother the stitches or the wound, but I felt like I needed them Wednesday, so they came back. Just in time too, because yesterday morning’s crossfit was intense. I always check the site before I go to class, mainly to see how I have to dress (inside or outside?) and also to check what I will be putting myself through shortly.
I was greeted with this quote: “Make no doubt, our program is not easy, but we believe the journey is part of making the results more rewarding. Our design is to maximize you as an athlete and to elevate your fitness.”
Uh-oh. Followed by this monster:
Skill
1k Row time trial
After a warm-up, row 1k for AVERAGE WATTS
The average watts will be the floor of the watts generated during the first portion of the WOD. You can go higher, just not lower.
I got nervous and rowed too easy- I didn’t want to be chained to a pace I couldn’t hold for the rest of the workout. I finished the 1000 meters in 4:23
Partner WOD
A.) 800 meter run
Partners must stay together for the first 400 meters (West Shore Diner sign), then one can go faster on the return 400 meters
B.)
1 500 meters row all out
2 Rest
Switch
2 500 meters row all out
1 Rest
Do this until partners row 4k total.
C.) 5 rounds each of:
Power Cleans Into a Front Squat – 5 reps each
20 lateral bar hops each
Partner 1 does the work and partner 2 rests, then switch.
D.) 500 row each partner
I was one of those people who had to lie on the floor after. I felt as though my heart was going to beat out of my chest. Tim, Kurt and I worked as a three-person team. They were partner B and I was partner A, and we finished in 36:36. It’s insane how long 500 meters on a rowing machine seems. As always, thanks for the kicking of my ass, crossfit.
Anyway, today is my last day at the office. It’s bittersweet. I’ll miss a few people, but I’m really excited/anxious for Monday to start my new job. I just hope I made the right decision! However, I have a whole weekend to enjoy first. I don’t know what I am doing tonight, if anything. We’re supposed to get snow and crappy weather, so I may just be a hermit. If the weather permits (hopefully!), tomorrow, Tim and I are planning to go to the farmer’s market in the morning, and then head to the ValenWine’s event and then make dinner from whatever we pick up at the market in the morning (with some wine, naturally). It’s also National 40 Night, so we may swing by that party.I may or may not run in the morning; I’m okay with just doing some cross training instead. I plan to play it by ear, depending on how I feel and how the weather is. On Sunday, I really need to get my butt to the mall and pick up a few new outfits for work. I don’t think my current attire will cut it.
As for now, I’m doing the no-snow/ice/sleet/wind dance in my pajamas.
Good luck at the new gig! Oh and after you raving about the compression socks, I may have to check them out, although I hope they come in some other color than pink because I don’t think they will match the beard.
Hahah they come in a ton of colors! Are you guys coming to Sara’s happy hour in march? I’d love to meet you both!
The wife and I need to try to line up a sitter since they usually frown on us bringing 4 year olds to happy hour. (Have they never heard of virgin daiquiris?) But if not the happy hour, maybe our paths will cross at some other official Bozich get together.
