And I don’t feel any different

Quick weekend update: I learned on Friday that I had caused $500 worth of damages to my car. (When I was driving home on Wednesday, I lost control and hit a small pole. I was only going 5 mph and there was no damage on the outside of the car. However, I though the alignment was off, so I took it in. Apparently, I dented a bunch of stuff.) Awesome. I cried on the phone with the mechanic. That night, Tim and I went to his friend Bree’s family’s holiday party then drank way too much wine at his house with some friends. WHOOPS. I also drank this, and loved it.

The next morning, we woke up to snow. F THAT. We both agreed that we needed to seriously get back on track, eating-wise. After the gym, we went to the farmer’s market and bought so many vegetables for next to nothing. It was awesome. We roasted carrots, parsnips, turnips and potatoes in coconut oil for dinner. It was amazing. We couldn’t even finish all the vegetables (which meant leftovers for me yesterday, yippee!).

We finished the evening watching Moonrise Kingdom with Sloane. And I was sound asleep by 10. Sunday, I woke up way too early, squeezed in five slow icy, snowy and windy miles, then Tim and I met Carolyn and Nicole and headed to the Kris Kringle 5 Miler. It was so, so cold and windy. We stayed in the car until the last possible minute. I usually try to do an easy warmup, but I just couldn’t. They changed the course from last year and it was MUCH harder. The first mile was a hilly road one. The next three were on unplowed trails. It was very hilly and impossible to run fast. The last mile was thankfully paved. It was really, really hard. To give an idea of the difference in courses, last year I ran a 37:45 and came in 140th. This year, I ran a 38:01 and was 84th. And second in my age group! And we got sweet hoodies for doing the race.

The rest of the day was spent catching up on cooking, cleaning and organizing. I didn’t get home until after 3, so most of the day was shot.

ANYWAY. Happy New Year’s Eve! Tonight, I am going to a small party at Tim and Ryan’s.  I’m excited for a low-key New Year’s, there was no pressure to find the perfect dress or shoes. In fact, I have no clue what I am wearing, and I’m more than okay with it.

Last year, I did a post reflecting on 2011. So, here we are on the eve of 2013, so I’d like to sum up 2012 with a TON of pictures, and a few words. Dun, dun dun.

First, I rang in the New Year with the gang. I was seriously ill with a terrible cold, so I went home right after midnight.

1

We reconvened with our friends from Toddlers and Tiaras.

2

I went hashing for the first time. It was so fun! 3

4

I also attended my dad’s inagural ball with about 20 of my closest friends and all of my awesome family members.

In February, Tim and I had our first date! I have no pictures of it, and I didn’t mention him on here for a long time. Anyway, Nadya and I hosted a Risky Business themed housewarming party.

7

For President’s Day Weekend, we all headed to the cabin, and had a fantastic time.

Later that month, my best friend Amy was in town from Pittsburgh! We fine dined at ABC. 11

I ran a 5K PR on St. Patrick’s Day. I was second woman and won a free large pizza.

12

I also celebrated my heritage with some fine people.

13

We kicked off April by running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. I PRed by five minutes! 14

However, a week later, over Easter, I had terrible pain in my hip and even faceplanted when running. That would be my last run for four months, due to a stress fracture. 15

I still prevailed and wore heels when Tim and I went to the Hershey Theater. 15a

At the end of April, we hosted another party. All the New Yorkers came!! 16

Prom was so fun. 17

In May, Tim graduated from law school! 18

I also went to a Senators game. I don’t think I watched any of the game. 19

On the day I was supposed to run a marathon, we hosted drunk brunch instead.

20

Over Memorial Day, Alexis and I (and our signifigant others) went to go see Nick Coyle. I loved it. No one else did. Rude. 21

I also had Katie’s bridal shower.

22

And Tim and I attended the wedding of one of his friends from college. 23

To kick off June, we accidentally hosted a pretty ridiculous happy hour.

24

And I was 50% of Team Let’s Get Weird in the beer pong tournament. We didn’t make it very far. 25

Tim and I attended his five-year college reunion at the University of Scranton.  26

And in mid-June, it was time for Brewer’s Fest!27

The girls also started hosting Sunday Night Dinner, which was always a good time filled with way too much food and wine. 28

To end June, my parents came to visit. They loved McGrath’s. 29

In July, my two college bffs, Sean and Andrew, came to see me. 30

31

And my friend Kaylan came to town. 32

At the end of July, we packed up and headed to the cabin again. 33

August started with the Sara Bozich Booze Cruise, a great event. 34

Then, Tim and I headed to LBI to spend some time with my entire extended family. 35

36

Then, I swam in the Wilkes-Barre Triathalon on a relay team. We came in sixth overall and third co-ed team. 37

Immediately after, we headed to Parker’s 5K- my first post-injury race (six days after I was allowed to run again). 38

Oh yeah, Katie got married. 39

40

41

Tim and I started hiking more. 42

In September, I started crossfit, and I also turned 27 and celebrated with a pretty epic party. 43

44

I also got to meet Dan Ackroyd. 45

And Sean and Andrew came to visit again.  46

And to close the month, I ran my fifth half. 47

October was the month of the Whole30. It was tough, but I am glad I did it. 48

Tim and I went to see Ray, Jill and Amy in Pittsburgh.

49

At the end of the month, Sara and I continued our Great Pumpkin 5K tradition. 50

We also had some days off for Hurricane Sandy. 51

Some of us still crossfitted. 52

In November, my college roommate Alex came to visit. 53

Katy’s housewarming was pretty awesome. 54

OH HEY I RAN THE HARRISBURG MARATHON AND QUALIFIED FOR BOSTON, MOTHAFUCKKKKASSS.

55

Tim and I visited Carter and Adrienne and went wine tasting. 56

I celebrated Thanksgiving with both my family and Tim’s. 57

58

December was full of festivities. 59

We got our first (very ghetto) tree.

60

Tim, Alexis, Justin and I ran the Juingle Bell 5K- and I finally broke 21 minutes!  61

62

Later that day, we Ugly Christmas Sweater Bar Crawled. 63

And to celebrate the season, Sara hosted a holiday party at the winery. I really like wine suddenly.

64

Tim and I signed up for the YRRC Winter Series. We had our asses handed to us in the first race.

65

I held a baby. 66

I had one of the best Christmases ever.

67

Thanks 2012. I hope 2013 is injury-free, full of PRs and some good times.
